Bridals in New Orleans have to be top 3 favorite things for me.
New Orleans is such a cool piece of history. There is just so much character within the city that it is a MUST to visit. While I lived in Louisiana, heading down south to New Orleans was some of my favorite memories.
The food, the music, the culture, THE VIBE, I’m so here for it. Whenever I have couples reach out to me for engagements, elopements, weddings or anything in between I can’t say yes fast enough.
This particular bridal session was just to walk around New Orleans and have fun taking her photos. I loved this bridal session so much because it was very editorial/ documentary vibes and I was in love.
I do want to talk a little on Hurricane Katrina.
Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans in late August of 2005. It was truly one of the most tragic hurricanes to date. Katrina took more than 1,800 lives and is one of the most costly natural disasters. New Orleans wasn’t directly hit with the hurricane itself but much more so the flooding that happened with the storm surge that followed. The storm surge (about 19ft) broke through the cities flood walls and levee’s causing a lot of the damage/ flooding. There is so much on Hurricane Katrina and its effect that not only it had on New Orleans but it’s effect it had on the Gulf Coast.
The reason I wanted to touch base on how this effected New Orleans is because the first time I visited New Orleans, you could almost feel the devastation through the buildings. If you’ve been there you know what I mean. It was very heart wrenching that you could see the water damage on so many of the buildings. Yet it is still such a beautiful place with a beautiful community of people that call New Orleans home.
